Language without Barriers: Mizanur’s Story

At the start of Kindergarten Countdown Camp (KCC), Mizanur arrived each day filled with mixed emotions. He was eager to be at school, but underlying anxiety overwhelmed him. Camp staff quickly realized that a language barrier was causing much of his stress. The pressure of navigating an unfamiliar environment without the words to express himself took a physical toll—he became so nervous each morning that it made him sick.

Determined to help Mizanur feel secure, KCC teachers adapted quickly. They began using a translation app to greet him every morning and break down simple classroom directions into his home language. The impact was immediate: Mizanur’s face lit up and he began to feel more comfortable. In the classroom, his teachers actively connected daily lessons to his personal interests, building an environment of safety, familiarity, and understanding.

At KCC, Mizanur began to discover that language didn’t have to stand in the way of belonging. As Mizanur felt more comfortable, his true personality began to emerge. Mizanur entered the classroom each morning with a smile and a wave. He became eager to participate, beaming with pride as he showed off his completed work to teachers and classmates.

Mizanur’s developing emotional security paved the way for remarkable progress: Mizanur demonstrated measurable growth across four key assessment areas: shapes, letters, book familiarity, and phonics.

As Mizanur steps into kindergarten, he carries with him a strong educational foundation, a true sense of belonging, and the confidence that he can succeed.
