The Morning Routine
When Prince started Kindergarten Countdown Camp (KCC), every morning started with tears. Separating from his mom felt overwhelming. Although he participated in classroom activities and completed his work,
Prince quietly cried throughout the day, softly repeating, "I miss my mom." Prince wanted to learn, but being away from home was a big challenge.
The Turning Point
Each day, his KCC teachers greeted him with patience, reassurance, and encouragement. They celebrated every small success, helping Prince feel safe, welcomed, and part of the classroom community.
By week two, the transformation was remarkable. Instead of arriving in tears, Prince greeted his teachers with a smile, dancing his way into the room. Prince’s questions shifted from "When is Mom coming?" to "When’s snack?"
Joy and Growth
Once Prince felt secure in the classroom, his joyful personality took center stage. Prince became fully engaged in learning and quickly made friends. His playful humor and bright spirit brought laughter and smiles to his classmates and teachers.
Alongside his social growth, Prince made academic strides. By the end of camp, his kindergarten readiness assessment score jumped from 2.62 to 3.37. He showed notable progress in core foundational skills including shapes, colors, letters, name writing, and counting.
Ready for the Future
Prince shows us that with patience and a safe space to grow, tears can turn into confidence. Prince discovered that school is a place where he belongs, where he can be himself, and where his joyful personality shines. As Prince steps into kindergarten, he carries with him a strong academic foundation, a love for learning, and a bright smile ready for the future.
